Why I made the decision to go natural

Hi All, I get asked this question a lot and even some of my followers haven't heard my reasoning for adopting the natural hair lifestyle. So, why did I go natural? I have had a fascination with deadlocks and every time I saw someone wearing them I wondered about the process. Then I started asking, most people said I would have to cut all of my relaxed hair in order to dread. I Well, that wasn't going to work for me so i began investigating other ways to dread. Through that investigation, I was introduced to the word "transition" and the meaning of it and that is when I struck gold! I made the decision to transition with the intent of dreading. 4-5months later with over 5 inches of new growth, I was still teetering on making a decision whether to dread or not. I then decided that I loved the new possibilities my transitioning hair gave me and I would hold off on dreading until I couldn't take it anymore! I transitioned for 18 months and decided I couldn't take it anymore but instead of dreading I Big Chopped and I haven’t looked back since! I am currently 5 months into my 100% Natural Hair Lifestyle and I am loving it!

Introductions and Welcomes

Hello All,
Welcome to The CurlyTop Chronicle...
Let me introduce myself. My name is Tomika and CT, (CurlyTop) is my hair. CT and I have been through a lot over our lifetime but the most challenging time that we have experienced together was during my 18months of transitioning back to natural hair. Now, let me clarify that statement...
The dictionary defines the word transition as 'a movement, passage or change from one position, stage or state to another'. Transitioning hair back to its previous state or stage can pose challenges. My transition was a time of reintroduction, redevelopment and re-learning about my hair and its natural state. CT would in most cases rebell, sometimes cooperate and in the rare occation she would do exactly what I told her making it a great hair day!

But I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. I big chopped (bc'd) a mere 2 months ago but I transitioned for 18months prior to that getting to know my new tresses patiently awaiting for CT to reveal more of herself to me and low and behold, she did. Little by little I have gotten to know my textured strands and I have been getting better and better at hair styles, and even caring for my hair.
Stay tuned for pictures...
Peace!
